Squirrels in Attics

We Build the Squirrel Evictor and Rat Repeller High Intensity Strobe Light.

Easy-Installation Guide

MB10K Squirrel Evictor and Rat Repeller Strobe Light

  • Determine how many separate areas are in the attic or crawlspace and the square footage of each area.
  • Will one light be visible from all points in the attic?
  • Squirrels in Your Attic? We Can Help.
  • Each separate section of the attic needs its own strobe light. For 900 square foot sections and smaller use the MB10K 175,000 candle power strobe light. For sections 900 to 1600 square feet use one MB100K Squirrel Evictor and Rat Repeller strobe light.
  • In order for the MB10K & MB100K strobe light units to work properly, the space must be uncluttered and as dark as possible. No other light source should be on to interfere with the performance of this product while in use. If there are windows in the attic tape cardboard over them to block off any outside light.
  • A regular outlet can be used with an extension cord or surge protector to plug in the Squirrel Evictor and Rat Repeller.
  • A metal hook and two foot chain is included to hang the light at about two feet above the floor.
  • Light must not enter the attic through a window or translucent vent.
  • Once the Squirrel Evictor and Rat Repeller is plugged in, it is turned on. Evictor Products Inc. recommends installing a light switch near the outlet when people enter and leave the attic.
  • Run the Squirrel Evictor and Rat Repeller continuously 24 hours a day. Squirrels, Rats, and other rodents should leave the area in as little as 24 hours and up to 2 weeks.

Shingled Gable Roof
This test was done on a 3 story twin home with Flat and Gable roofs. The homes have large soffits.  The length of the two twin homes is 35ft., by a width of 30 ft., with a height of 4 ft.

There are multiple separated sections of inaccessible spaces.  An access panel was cut to gain entrance to 1 section.  The space required (1) MB10K unit to evict 6 squirrels.  They had been nesting in different sections of the crawl space and soffit.  The light only shined in one section.  No other pest control products other than the strobe light were used to evict the squirrels.

The exit and entrance holes have not been closed.  The unit has been operating continuously for over 11 months.  No squirrels have returned, no further damage.  The squirrels maintain a distance from the home.

Floor Plan
This test was done on a 2 story single house, with a shingled gable roof.  The overall length of the room is 30 ft.  The width is 20 ft. The height of the attic is 5 ft.

The MB10K high intensity strobe light was hung in the center of the attic room, about 2 ft. below the ridge beam.  This space required (1) MB10K unit to effectively evict the 4 squirrels that had been nesting in the home for over 8 years.  No other pest control product other than the strobe light was used to evict the squirrels.

The exit and entrance holes have not been closed.  The unit has been operating continuously for over 10 months.  No squirrels have returned without any further damage.  The squirrels maintain a distance from the home.

Floor Plans

Mrs. Mary O'B owns a two-story row home in between 4 connecting homes with a Shingled Gable roof.  There is no firewall in the attic between the homes.  The overall length of the attic crawl space is 60 ft.  The width is 30 ft.  The height of the crawlspace is 3 ft.  The closet access is 20 ft. from the end of the building and 10 ft. from the front.

The MB10K high intensity strobe light was hung directly above the access closet 1 ft. above the ceiling joist.  The space required (1) MB10K unit.  The residence had 2 squirrels nesting in the crawlspace for over 2 years.  No other pest control product other than the MB10K strobe light was used to evict the squirrels.

The exit and entrance holes were never located.  The unit has been operating continuously for 5 months.

T-Shaped House
Shingled Hip Roof

Attic Size 35'L x 30'W

Floor Plan
Shingled Gable Roof
This home is a 2 story Shingled Hip roof. The overall length of the attic is 35 ft. The width is 20 ft. The height is 6 ft. at it's peak.

Two units were hung in the attic.  The space required (2) MB10K units to evict 5 squirrels nesting in the home for over 25 years. The units are left on 24 hours per day 7 days a week. To expedite the squirrel's eviction we used 4 the Birds Goo on each opening.

After a period of 4 weeks one hole was closed with 1/2" hardware cloth, the other was capped with a Verminator Wildlife Control 1-way tunnel. (See Installers- Contact Kevin Younts).

2 weeks after that the tunnel was replaced with permanent fascia capping. We left the hardware cloth in place at a hole that was not easy to see, so the squirrels could still view the light.  A huge new squirrel nest was observed in the front yard. No squirrels have returned.

L-Shaped House
Terra Cotta Roof

Attic Size 75'L x 30'W

Floor Plan
Shingled Gable Roof

This test was conducted on a large 2 story house with a Terra Cotta Dutch roof.  It is a L-shaped home.  The overall length of the attic 75 ft. The width is 30 ft.  The height is 6 ft. at its peak.

Two units were hung in the attic.  The space required (2) MB10K units to evict 15 squirrels nesting in the home for over 35 years.  The high intensity strobe lights are left on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Before the lights were installed, 4-the-Birds Gel was applied to many of the openings, which had no effect on the squirrels.

First, (1) MB10K unit was installed at one end.  This drove the squirrels to the other end of the attic.  A second MB10K unit was installed at the other end of the attic, and this drove them completely out of the house. No squirrels have returned.

T-Shaped Rancher
Cedar Hip Roof

Attic Size 90'L x 40'W

Floor Plan
Shingled Gable Roof
The test was conducted on a large 1 story house with a Cedar Shake Hip roof. It is a T-Shaped home. The overall length of the attic is 90 ft. The width is 40 ft. The height is 5 ft. at its peak.

Four units were hung in the attic. The space required (3) MB10K units and (1) MB100K unit to evict 11 squirrels nesting in the home for over 30 years. The units were left on 24/7. Before the lights were installed, nothing was applied to the openings in the cedar roof. The (4) units were spaced equally in the attic.

The high intensity strobe lights drove them completely out of the house. Occassionally, the squirrels enter the holes and minutes later they leave. No squirrels are now nesting in the attic.

Single (3 Story)
Shingled Gable Roof

Attic Size 110'L x 40'W

Floor Plan
Shingled Gable Roof

This was one of the most difficult cases for Evictor Products.  This is a large 3 story house with a Multi-Stepped Shingled Gable roof.  The attic has a length of 110ft, by 40ft width, and a height of 7ft.

(3) of Evictor Products high intensity strobe lights were hung in the attic.  The attic space required (2) MB10K units and (1) MB100K strobe light to evict 8 squirrels nesting for over 10 years.  The units were left on continuously.

Two different species of squirrels occupied the attic, Eastern Grey and Flying Squirrels.  Some were living between the 2nd and 3rd floor space.

When the lights were installed, the entrance hole was closed with 1/2" hardware cloth, the other was capped with a Verminator Wildlife Control 1-way tunnel.  The (3) MB10K lights were spaced equally in the attic.

The MB100K was placed in the middle.  The units drove the squirrels completely out of the house.  After a period of (1) month the soffit opening (with the 1-way tunnel) was capped.
